Kayengall Atoll (note inconsistent spelling). Two days were spent surveying the leeward reefs of Kayengall Atoll: 2015-1-29 (PaKy57-59) and 2015-2-6 (PaKy79-80). P. acuta was only found at one of the five surveyed sites (PaKy79). Remember, if you want data for these sites, go back to the first two Palau page (“overview” and bioprospecting).

Topside photos of this storm-battered island. Thanks to big brother Taiwan for rebuilding everything (probably to secure exclusive fishing rights, but why focus on the negative??).

PaKy57 (2015-1-29) leeward barrier forereef. P. acuta was not observed at this site. To read about coral health and reef ecology, check out this article.

PaKy57 sampled Seriatopora spp. colonies (n=4; PaSe137-140)

PaKy58 sampled Seriatopora spp. colonies (n=3; PaSe141-143)

PaKy59 (2015-1-29) P. acuta was not present at this channel reef.

PaKy59 sampled Seriatopora spp. colonies (n=2; PaSe144-145)

PaKy79 (2015-2-6) windward barrier forereef

PaKy79 sampled P. acuta colonies (n=2; PaPd139-140)
